Mr Maksymiw's News 9th February 2015
This is a sneak preview of our new school logo. We have been developing it for some time and I want to thank one of our governors, Emma Moore for her invaluable input. The logo design will be rolled out over the next few weeks and replace our existing logo on the letterhead, signs around school, cheques, and compliment slips…….the list is endless.
One of the most important changes will be on the children’s sweatshirts. I am pleased to announce that the governors have agreed to allow the school to purchase a special twentieth anniversary sweatshirt for each child in the school. This design will contain the number 20 inside the new logo. Therefore, we will be sending out a letter asking you to let us know what size sweatshirt you would like for your child so that it can be ordered to arrive before Easter. Sweatshirts with the new logo will be available to buy from the summer term.
Of course, children will be allowed to wear sweatshirts with the exiting design as well as the new ones.

Plans are afoot to create a tapestry to commemorate our twentieth anniversary. Everybody working in school will make a contribution to the finished wall hanging much like the rainbow at the front of the building which celebrates the school’s tenth anniversary. Everyone working in school at that time made a plaque with their initials moulded onto the front. This time Miss Coles is planning an enormous wall hanging for the school’s reception area. We need some keen sewers to help put this mammoth project together. If you would like to help please see Miss Coles in class Catkin or leave your name at the school’s office.
I am pleased to say that Mr David Round will continue to be a school governor in 2015. On this occasion, Mr Round’s nomination was the only one received and therefore he has been automatically re-elected onto the governing body. We are grateful that he has agreed to continue as a parent governor as this provides continuity and experience to this important group of people and the work they carry out on behalf of the school.

Mr Maksymiw's News 26th January 2015
I have recently been looking at our attendance figures for this year. Every month I sit down with a member of the office team to review the overall attendance figures for the school and the attendance level for individual pupils. I also report this information to the school’s governors. Having reviewed the current figures, I am pleased to say that the children’s attendance continues to improve term by term. The current level of attendance is 96.8%, which is just above the target for the whole year. Attendance for each class ranges from 98% to 95.1%.
Of course, I would like attendance at Outwoods Edge to continue to improve, and a figure of 97% for the whole year is perfectly possible but we depend on you as parents to help us achieve this ambitious target. The number of parents taking their children out of school during term time for holidays for instance has dropped and I would like to thank you for this improvement. Of course, if your child is ill then the best place for them is at home but apart from that I believe regular attendance gives your child the best chance to succeed at school. Once again, thank you for your efforts and please keep them up.
