Mr Maksymiw's News 26th January 2015
I have recently been looking at our attendance figures for this year. Every month I sit down with a member of the office team to review the overall attendance figures for the school and the attendance level for individual pupils. I also report this information to the school’s governors. Having reviewed the current figures, I am pleased to say that the children’s attendance continues to improve term by term. The current level of attendance is 96.8%, which is just above the target for the whole year. Attendance for each class ranges from 98% to 95.1%.
Of course, I would like attendance at Outwoods Edge to continue to improve, and a figure of 97% for the whole year is perfectly possible but we depend on you as parents to help us achieve this ambitious target. The number of parents taking their children out of school during term time for holidays for instance has dropped and I would like to thank you for this improvement. Of course, if your child is ill then the best place for them is at home but apart from that I believe regular attendance gives your child the best chance to succeed at school. Once again, thank you for your efforts and please keep them up.

Mr Maksymiw's News 19th January 2015
Last week we experienced some icy conditions around the school site. Thankfully Mr Tolton, our site manager, did a great job of making it safe for the children by clearing paths from the gates to the class doors. It looks like this cold snap is set to continue for a few days. Can you help us keep the children safe by ensuring they keep to the gritted paths particularly at the beginning of the school day. We will be taking the children out a playtime and lunchtime so they will need to be appropriately dressed with coats and hats whilst it is cold.
On another matter I wanted to draw your attention to a proposal to change the route of the bus that stops outside the school. The proposal suggests that the number 5 route will change so that the nearest bus stop would move to the top of Haddon Way. If this proposal affects you then you may want to find out more information. All the documents can be found on the planning portal, searching for...
