Final day for Hazel at Dukes Barn
We've had snow! While we were eating our full English breakfasts, snow flakes started to fall. It didn't settle on the ground but looked very pretty. However, when the Owls headed to weaselling (which was on very high ground) we had plenty of snow to have snow balls, snow angels and then warm hot chocolate, it was great fun! The Foxes went caving, squeezing themselves through small holes, Henry said it was fun and scary. The Badgers went climbing and the girls were brilliant on the climbing wall and some boys challenged themselves on the zip wire and then found they loved it! Now time to get on the bus and head home...
Day 2 for Hazel at Dukes Barn
Hazel's Dukes Barn trip, day 2!
What a day! We have been here, there and everywhere and had a brilliant time! The Owls were caving and abseiling; the Foxes were weaselling (culminating with a team member leaving their imprint in the mud) and traversing the climbing walls and the Badgers were abseiling and weaselling. We have had many personal successes today where children (and teachers) conquering their fears! We have had so many comments from the instructors about how brilliant our class are being and us teachers are immensely proud of them. Currently, Freya, Niamh, Scarlet and Henry are busy setting the tables for dinner. Steak pie!
Hazel's turn at Dukes Barn
We arrived safely at Dukes Barn after an entertaining journey with some 'beautiful' singing (which also brought the rain). After an introductory talk and a tour of the building, we briefly met with Larch who had clearly had a great time. We had a tour, made our beds and ate our packed lunches. We then set off to our activities; the Foxes took on the awesome 75 foot abseil, the Owls hung around on the climbing wall and ropes course whilst the Badges went caving. The children did themselves proud by setting the table for our pizza, chips and profiteroles dinner. Then we had some time in the games room before heading to our campfire with sweets, songs and stories. Now it is bedtime, after warm showers, card games and book reading. Looking forward to another fantastic day in the Peak District!
