Mr Maksymiw's news w/c 12th June
It was great to see the children in the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 enjoying their art inspiration day on Thursday. Children tried different techniques to create a large piece of art based on Monet’s waterlilies paintings. The children used chalk and paint as well as collage to create the water and the lilies. The result is taking shape on the wall in the Key Stage 2 library and will be ready for our Open Evening on 4th July. Lots of other art including screen printing and water colours will be on display on that evening between 6pm and 7pm. Please make a note in your diary as, in addition to the art work, you will have the opportunity to meet most of the teachers in their classrooms as well as have a final look at the work your child has produced this year.

Mr Maksymiw's news w/c 5th June
Welcome back to school for the final half term of the year. It is always a busy half term with the emphasis on the children having the opportunity to work on the wider curriculum beyond maths and English. For instance, the children in the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 will be embarking on an Art Day on Thursday when they will be studying one of the great French Impressionists, Claude Monet. Later in June, all the teachers will be using our great outdoor environment as an inspiration and resource for teaching Maths, English, Art; in fact any area of the curriculum. Then of course the children will be practising for our Challenge Days and the older children will be getting ready for Town Sports.
There will be lots of opportunities for you to come into school both during the day and after school and listed below are some of the key dates for your diary. I hope to see you at one of the events.

Mr Maksymiw's news w/c 22nd May
This half term has sped by. It seems hard to believe that we break up on Friday. We have packed a lot into the last five weeks, drama performances, sporting tournaments, Google Expedition, trips and visits and of course lots of work. Teachers have been busy planning topics and at the moment they are writing the children’s reports. These will be given out towards the end of June and there will be the opportunity to come in and collect them and have a brief meeting with your child’s class teacher.
Of course the last half term is a crucial part of the year. The children will be securing key parts of their learning so that they can make a good start to their new class. There are also the traditional end of year events, many of which you will be invited to. I will make sure that the dates of these events are in the first newsletter after half term.
Have a good half term.
